Description:
Join our fantastic financial aid team at Green River College!!!This position will be responsible for awarding Workforce Education funds in accordance with local, state and federal guidelines. Primary responsibilities will include awarding training funds, evaluating and awarding financial aid files, counseling students, and providing general financial aid information and assistance. Position Responsibilities Workforce: •Package and award Workforce Education grant funding to qualifying students identified through the office of Workforce Education Office •In coordination with Workforce Education, interpret and apply complex workforce related grant policies (Opportunity Grant, BFET, WorkFirst, Worker Retraining) to determine individual awards •Monitor and reconcile Workforce Education financial accounts and transactions, i.e. textbook accounts and/or financial aid expenditures Provide other assistance as required to support the Workforce Education Financial Aid:•Independently advise students and parents regarding federal, state and institutional financial aid application process and program criteria •Counsel financial aid applicants on completion of complex application materials following federal/state guidelines, which may include interpretation and translation of unique, highly confidential and often complex circumstances •Conduct financial aid workshops on and off campus •Read, interpret and implement local, state and federal regulations •Determine eligibility and award financial aid, including loans, based upon policies and regulatory requirements while adhering to internal awarding policies and compliance regulations •Evaluate satisfactory academic progress and assist with reviewing academic appeals •Release financial aid disbursements Other: •Demonstrate multicultural competence (including an awareness and understanding of historically underserved populations) and create an educational environment that affirms commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion •Regularly participate in trainings and professional development opportunities to further knowledge and self-awareness of diversity, equity, and inclusion •Effectively and clearly communicate with students, staff, and faculty both orally and in writing. •Counsel students regarding strategies for financing their educational costs. •Provide excellent customer service including: front counter, phones, email, and voicemail •Run reports •Administer tuition deferment holds, as needed •Other duties as assigned to support the goals and objectives of the department and the college •Facilitate financial aid workshops and presentations on and off campus

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:•Bachelor's Degree and one year of higher education experience or relevant combination of degree and experience •Requires flexibility when managing competing priorities between Financial Aid and Workforce Education •Intermediate proficiency using Microsoft Office – Access, Excel, Word, Outlook •Ability to communicate with effective verbal and written communication skills •Support a student-centered environment with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion •Demonstrated experience with under-represented and under-served communities •Demonstrated experience working accurately with numbers and with high attention to detail •Excellent customer service skills across various modes of communication: in person, email, phone, etc. •Proven ability to organize, schedule work and adhere to timelines •Analytical and critical thinking skills used to evaluate aid applications, interpret policy and comply with financial aid and workforce legislative intent. •Demonstrated skill working both independently and collaboratively in a team environment Preferred Qualifications: •Master's degree •Two or more years of higher education experience •One of more years of Financial Aid or Work Force Education experience •Bi-lingual one of top 5 languages in service area: Spanish, Russian, Vietnamese, Korean, and Tagalog
