Description:
Accurately process payments up to $1 million daily. Manages, reconciles and maintain current procedures for student account programs including, but not limited to: Tuition Discounts, Title IV (Federal) Credit Balances, Payment Plans, Veterans' Benefits, such as Yellow Ribbon and Post 9/ll GI Bill, Add/Drops and Outside Scholarships. May supervise, train, delegate and mentor student worker(s). Uses professional judgment to make decisions on institutional policy exceptions. Researches situations and communicates options and outcomes to students and parents. Has timely and accurate responses to inquiries via telephone, in person, mail and email regarding all aspects of a student's financial situation based on a comprehensive understanding of the complete financial aid process, federal, state and institutional financial aid programs, institutional charges, the statement process and the Banner computer system. Responsible for $350.00 cash till and accurately reconciling payment intake to computer records on a daily basis. Works with people from diverse backgrounds, develops and nurtures relationships with students and families of culturally and/or ethnically diverse backgrounds through culturally responsive conversations and outreach events. Represents the University and SFS in on and off campus events and presentations.

Qualifications:
Required: Associates Degree or equivalent experience required. Two years of office experience. Aptitude for computerized record-keeping, ability to organize and manage processes, excellent written and verbal communication, public relations and counseling skills. Understanding and interest in customer service, including the ability to defuse tension. Self-motivated and team oriented (cooperative, willing, flexible). Ability to cope with stress in a positive manner. Strong attention to detail. Ability to juggle multiple tasks and flexibility to handle competing priorities with professionalism. Ability to work within structure and deadlines. Analytical with strong problem-solving skills. Sensitivity regarding confidential information.  Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

 

Preferred Qualifications:  Bachelor's degree. Experience in Basic accounting. Previous experience working in a college or university. Familiarity with student accounts and financial aid programs (state and federal). Experience and comfort creating and giving presentations.
