Description:
As the initial contact for the Financial Aid Office, the Program Coordinator provides excellent, student focused customer service. Under general supervision, the position assists with receptionist duties, budgets, scholarships, mail, phone, e-mail, financial aid outreach with local high schools and community based organizations, and assists students in completing the FAFSA/WASFA. Position Responsibilities• Represent the financial aid office and institution in a positive and professional manner with a student-centered approach. •Act as one of the primary points of contact in the financial aid office to maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, other departments, community partners and the general public. •Provide various departmental supports and administrative duties, such as maintaining departmental outgoing mail, incoming emails, voicemails, faxes, portal documents, etc...) •Understand and interpret financial aid regulations, program guidelines, and institutional policy and stay current on changes. •Identify and analyze students' needs, recommend potential resources and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. •Manage data and reports, update forms and other publications and maintain adequate supply of office supplies. •Work independently and comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) guidelines to protect students' privacy and records' confidentiality. •Recruit/mentor work-study employees and facilitate financial aid training and workshops. •Participate in Financial Aid staff meetings, trainings, student workshops, and events. •Demonstrate multicultural competence (including an awareness and understanding of historically underserved populations) and create an educational environment that affirms commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion •Regularly participate in trainings and professional development opportunities to further knowledge and self-awareness of diversity, equity, and inclusion •Other duties as assigned by Director of Assistant Director

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: •Intermediate ability using Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Access, Excel, Outlook •Ability to learn and use specialized financial aid software •Ability to use and resolve problems with general office equipment •Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing •Ability to establish a student-centered environment •Ability to work effectively with diverse populations •Ability to work accurately with numbers and detail •Ability to use excellent customer service skills •Ability to organize, schedule work and adhere to timelines •Analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills used to evaluate aid applications •Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment •Associates Degree Preferred Qualifications: •Bachelor Degree •One or more years of financial aid experience •One or more years of higher education experience •Experience in Washington Community and Technical College system
